Cao Son Ecolodge follows strictly the regulation of international ecotourism:

1, Lodge Site
Cao Son Ecolodge is located in a beautiful valley. The site does not create any negative impact on nature as it is build on a rocky hill and the staff are making the surrounding regions forest-covered again. Regarding to the social contact, the lodge is an easy access to many villages. Besides the main lodge; we built other lodges ( forest lodge and village lodge) with the best participation of local community. We ensure that our lodges brings the positive impact on the local life in Cao Son.

2, Facility design

2.1 Byophysical and cultural impacts
We respect the local cultural sites and focal species.

2.2Architecture design and construction issues
- Cao Son Eco-lodge is a very quiet, clean and peaceful lodge that is built using traditional Tay tribes design ( popular ethnic minority in Cao Son). Other lodges included lodge in the village and forest lodge which are planning to be on use in 2010 will be the replica of Flower Hmong tribes architecture.

2.3 Trails and landscaping
- We advoid using trails that may make the land eroded. All trails that using for tourism are selected with the help of local people.
- No exotic plants are carried to this region.

2.4 Energy and waste management systems
- From 2009, we use electricity from Coc Ly hydro- eclectricity ( 30km from Cao Son)
- Water is carried from the mountain with carefully-designed water process systems
- Mordern garbages are recycled, others are collected. We launch the campaign to collect waste in local area every month.

3. Integration of Environmental Strategies in Operational Systems

3.1 Human resources
All the staff are local. We have trained local peoples who are suitable to for in tourism field to serve tourist and working in the lodge. We also send them to coures that conducting the knowledge of sustainable tourism.

3.2 Community benifit
We do care about local education and surely, part of our interest will be send back to the local community.
Maximizing the labour opportunities are encouraged in the place that we site our lodge.
Along with the lodge, we also cooperate with local people to offer tourists homestay. This activities will provide the local family some extra finance.
We are calling for funds that help local people developing their life and preserve their culture.

Cao Son Eco-lodge have opened new projects to protect local nature and culture. It is our goal to keep the region unspoilt and charming.


Newest campaign: Tree planting 2010 - 2011

With the support of local people and organizations, Pole-star travel ( the owner of Cao Son ecolodge) had called for the support from partners, travel agencies and customers to join hand for this campaign.
Activity: planting trees on the 2 sides of the road from Muong Khuong town to Ta Thang village ( 38km).
Support: trees, materials, fertiliser from the local government<
Labour: students from schools will join this activities.
Money: apr 10 000 usd. The total amount of the money will be transferred directly to the schools whose students plant trees. All will become the scholarship for students.
